ISLAMABAD: In the “controversial tweets” case, a local court in Islamabad on Monday ordered PTI Senator Azam Swati to be jailed for three days.
After the PTI leader’s extended one-day physical remand ended, he was brought before senior civil judge Muhammad Shabbir’s court.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prayed for the recovery of the tweet made by Swati, according to testimony from her attorney, Babar Awan, during the hearing. He further asserted in court that the senator suffered a fracture as well as an injury to one of his fingers.
On the other hand, the prosecutor asked the court to approve a three-day physical remand of the senator. However, the court denied the request and instead placed Swati in jail on a three-day judicial remand.
Before the senator was placed on judicial remand, his lawyer, Awan, pleaded with the court to allow him to appear before another court before 1 pm.
The court initially denied Awan’s request, but the FIA was later asked to present Swati earlier after his lawyer informed him that he needed to speak with him.
