Uber has ceased operations in five major cities in Pakistan, including Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, and Faisalabad. It will remain in Lahore and other cities for the time being, but there is no word on how long it will stay. This bodes well for Careem fares and services.
Since 2020, Careem has been a fully owned subsidiary of Uber. When Uber stopped operating in the aforementioned cities, it also advised all users and drivers to switch to Careem as payment. Uber also eliminated all outstanding driver debts and provided a one-time goodwill payment to its drivers as a gesture of goodwill.

This will attract more drivers to Careem in these cities, which could improve fares. More drivers increase the number of available trips, which reduces peak times and may even result in decreased ride prices. For those who don’t know, peak factors only apply when there aren’t enough drivers in your area; if there are too many, the issue disappears.
Additionally, with more driver availability, you may obtain trips much more quickly than in the past. Since drivers won’t have to accept your transport from far away, they will arrive at your location immediately.
However, a lot will rely on how many drivers switch from Uber to Careem.
