Tom Cruise, Hollywood’s ultimate hero, is getting prepared for a new mission, this time in space.
Doug Liman, the Mission Impossible and The Bourne Identity director, is said to be working on a space-themed film with Universal Filmed Entertainment Group Chairman Donna Langley.
Cruise is shown boarding a rocket to the International Space Station in the film.
However, according to Langely, the first British woman to head a significant American film company, most of the movie would “take place on earth, and then the heroine needs to travel up to space to rescue the day.”
Although building a space station is a dangerous endeavor, Universal, Elon Musk’s SpaceX, and NASA seem enthusiastic about the project, which would require expensive insurance bonds.
With the release of the Top Gun sequel, Cruise has scored his biggest potential movie victory.
