US condemns brutal Russian missile strikes on Kyiv: Ukraine War

Russia has come under heavy criticism for its bombardment of Ukrainian cities, including its first-ever use of missile attacks on the Kyiv city centre.
In addition to promising continuous military assistance, the US claimed that the “brutal” attacks had attacked non-military objectives such as a university and playground.
United Nations leader Antonio Guterres said he was “very surprised”.
The explosion on a crucial bridge connecting Russia and Crimea on Saturday, according to Vladimir Putin, was the reason behind the strikes.
According to Ukraine, 83 missiles were fired, more than 43 of which were intercepted.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, asserted in a defiant video that “You cannot intimidate Ukraine. It can only become more cohesive.”

The devastating barrage, which included attacks on Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia, was among the bloodiest to hit Ukraine in recent months.

According to officials, at least 14 individuals were killed and numerous others were hurt.

After missiles struck the energy infrastructure, several areas were left without electricity and water.

Residents of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, claimed that it looked that Russia was aiming its missiles towards civilian targets, including the university, a famous park, and a children’s playground that were bustling with commuters on Monday morning.

The strikes, according to Antonio Guterres, were “another intolerable escalation of the war” in which civilians were suffering the most.
While European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen claimed that Russia represented terrorism and violence, the EU claimed that a war crime had been committed.
One of the international officials that spoke with President Zelensky was US Vice President Joe Biden, who “promised to continue providing Ukraine with the support needed to defend itself, including advanced air defence systems,” according to the White House.
The attacks, according to Mr. Biden, showed “the absolute ferocity” of Putin’s “illegal war.”
President Zelensky promised to bolster Ukraine’s military forces and “make the battlefield even more agonising for the enemy” after the phone chat.
