Lahore: According to the annual report of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), oil imports have grown by 27.82% while natural gas production dropped by 6% in the fiscal year 2020โ21.
The yearly report states that following a 6% drop in 2020โ21, natural gas production dropped to 2006 mmcfd. However, according to the data, production at nearby refineries increased by 14.48%.
In 2020โ21, the oil is produced by the refineries increased to 10.66 million tonnes. However, local refineries’ LPG production has increased by 25.32%.
From 17.63% to 19.92%, the demand for petroleum rose by 12.95% in 2020โ21. In contrast to Sindh, Punjab received 52% (1426 mmcft) of the total gas (1052 mmcft).
OGRA distributed 467,000 new connections for the fiscal year 2020โ21 despite the crisis.
According to OGRA’s annual report, across the provinces of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, 305,409 new connections were made in 2020โ21.
OGRA issued 87 different LPG-related licences in 2020โ2021. OGRA issued 30 licences for the building of LPG production and filling facilities, 11 licences for the operation of LPG car refuelling stations, and one licence each for the operation of LPG auto refuelling facilities and production and storage facility construction.
