ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has requested account details from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in a case involving Toshakhana gifts.
According to details, the commission is hearing a disqualification reference against Imran Khan for failing to declare gifts received from Toshakhana.
The electoral watchdog has written to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) requesting the former prime minister’s account details.
According to sources, the ECP will announce the reserved verdict after reviewing the details of the accounts.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had earlier in September reserved its decision in the Toshakhana reference against former prime minister Imran Khan.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) does not have the authority to disqualify candidates under Article 62-1-F, according to Barrister Ali Zafar’s arguments before the ECP.
Has a judge established that Khan is not Sadiq and Ameen?, Ali Zafar, a lawyer, inquired. The disqualification issue under Article 62-1-F of the constitution cannot be considered by the ECP, according to Imran Khan’s attorney, who further claimed that the ECP is not a court but a commission.
The ECP reserved its decision in the Toshakhana case against Imran Khan after hearing the PTI lawyer’s arguments.
