Officials from Pakistan Railways reported that four additional trains from Turkiye arrived here carrying loads of supplies for flood victims.
Tents, blankets, and food items were among the relief supplies coming from Turkiye, officials added, noting that the two-month-old suspension of rail services between Pakistan and Iran has been lifted.
On Sunday, Pakistan’s official radio reported that Turkey’s 13th “Kindness Train,” carrying 554 tonnes of aid for flood victims, had left Turkey for Pakistan.
The train has departed Ankara, and according to a statement from Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management, it will arrive in Pakistan in two weeks.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, has ordered relief supplies for Pakistan’s flood victims.
According to Radio Pakistan, the total amount of Turkish relief for Pakistan’s flood victims that has been shipped by rail alone amounts to over 7,290 tonnes.
At Bholari, a village within the boundaries of Jamshoro district, Turkish Consul General in Karachi, Cemal Sangu, officially opened a tent city for flood victims named after Turkish President Erdogan.
According to a representative of a Turkish relief organisation, Ankara has supplied tents, food, medication, cooking supplies, vaccines, and other supplies to the flood-affected areas in 14 flights and 13 trains.
