Rs.75 commemorative banknote available for public

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) issued a commemorative banknote of Rs75 on Thursday to commemorate Pakistan’s 75th anniversary of independence.

The design of the banknote was revealed by the central bank during a ceremony at the SBP headquarters in Karachi to commemorate the completion of 75 years of independence on August 14th.

According to an SBP statement, the note will be available to the general public beginning Friday at SBP BSC offices and commercial bank branches (September 30). The commemorative note is a legal tender under Section 25 of the SBP Act of 1956 and can be used as a medium of exchange for all transactions in Pakistan.

“This is the second commemorative banknote issued by SBP after issuance of the first commemorative note issued to mark the fifty years of independence of the country in 1997,” a statement released by SBP read.

According to the statement, the themes and concepts for both the obverse and reverse sides of the banknote were developed by SBP and local artists.

The commemorative banknote was created to pay tribute to the leaders who contributed to the creation of Pakistan and to raise awareness about climate change and its impact on the environment.

“The [obverse of] note features portraits of the Quaid-i-Azam, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Allama Iqbal, and Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah to recognise and acknowledge their contributions to the Pakistan movement. The reverse image of Markhor emphasises our commitment to environmental sustainability “The banknote reveal statement had stated.
