ISLAMABAD: Ishaq Dar took oath as a Senator this afternoon from the Chairman of Senate Sadiq Sanjrani.
Opposition Senators raised slogans against the government and Ishaq Dar, but Chairman Senate continued the oath-taking ceremony.
Soon after taking oath, Dar forewarned the manipulators of the value of dollars in the inter-bank and open market trading saying a stern action will be taken against them. He said that in the past two days, the value of rupee has appreciated significantly which reduced burden of debt by 1350 billion rupees.
Senator Ishaq Dar said he would discourage the manipulation of the rate of dollar and other major currencies.
“We will stop the artificial flight of dollar in the country,” Dar told reporters.
On Wednesday (Sept 28), Senator Ishaq Dar will take oath as a finance minister. In last two trading days, the value of dollar in the open market has dropped to 35 rupees, from 48 rupees while in the inter-bank dollar has dropped to 234 rupees today from 239 rupees two days ago just because Ishaq Dar is going to take oath ads finance minister.

Former finance minister Ishaq Dar reached Islamabad Monday night along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif amid top-level protocol.
Dar returned from London after five years’ self-exile in special plane of PM Shehbaz Sharif which landed at Noor Khan Air-base in Rawalpindi.

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail had already tendered his resignation and PM Shehbaz will accept it before the oath-taking of Dar as Finance Minister.
The decision to appoint Ishaq Dar as Finance Minister was taken in London meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

On Saturday Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah confirmed that Dar is returning to Pakistan and that he will appear in the court.
On Friday, an accountability court in Islamabad suspended arrest warrants for former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar until October 7. The court said it would revoke the orders once the accused appeared in the court. On Tuesday, the judge of the accountability court did not turn up in his court. Consequently, Ishaq Dar took oath as Senator today evening and from Wednesday morning he will become finance minister.
