US State Department: India’s relations with Pakistan are independent

Adding that “these are both partners of ours with different points of emphasis in each,” the US stated that it does not regard its relations with Pakistan and India in connection to one another.

Before the meeting between Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday in Washington, US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price was questioned about remarks made by Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar urging the US to reevaluate its relationship with Pakistan and criticising the fact that Washington approved funds for Pakistan’s F-16 programme.

According to Price, the US views both countries as allies “because we do have common principles and we do have shared interests in many circumstances.”

“Additionally, our relationships with Pakistan and India are self-sufficient in themselves.

Additionally, we want to exert all of our efforts to ensure that these neighbors have positive relationships with one another. So that’s another emphasis point. “
