The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), a government agency tasked with exposing corruption, stated in a response provided to the Lahore High Court that it had no issues with Maryam Nawaz receiving her passport back (LHC).
Maryam Nawaz submitted a petition to the LHC requesting that her passport be returned.
In a brief response given to the LHC, the NAB stated that it had no objections to the PML-N leader receiving his passport back and noted that the accused was still facing criminal charges.
The court also displayed anger at Amjad Pervez, Maryam’s attorney, for arriving late. The proceedings were then postponed until October 3.
Vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz, stated in her plea that her passport had been in judicial custody for the previous four years.
The petition claimed that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had so far neglected to file a challan in the Chaudhry Sugar Mill case, despite the fact that the court had given the PML-N leader bail based on his merits.
Additionally, she said that no one should be denied a fundamental right for an extended period of time and urged the LHC to direct the deputy registrar to return her passport, which she had relinquished in compliance with the order on October 31, 2019.
