Final Nations League thriller ends 3-3 between England and Germany

On Monday, England and Germany drew 3-3 at Wembley after the hosts came back from a 2-0 deficit to lead 3-2 before Kai Havertz tied the score with his second goal as the match between the Group A3 underdogs of the Nations League erupted into a remarkable goal-fest.

After a lackluster first half between the two World Cup-bound rivals, Germany gradually gained the upper hand.

Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty in the 52nd minute and a beautiful Havertz curler in the 67th minute gave Germany the lead.

After Luke Shaw poked the ball home at the far post after 71 seconds, England responded with two goals in as many minutes.

Bukayo Saka then found fellow replacement Mason Mount, who beautifully stroked home the equalizer after slaloming past three players.

Harry Kane gave England the lead after another VAR penalty for a foul on Jude Bellingham, but just as the crowd was celebrating the comeback, Serge Gnabry’s effort was spilled by goalie Nick Pope, and Havertz tapped the loose ball in at the 87th minute.
