NSC meeting is called by PM Shehbaz amid controversy over PMO audio leaks

The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting has been called by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review national security issues, including purportedly leaked audio of the premier speaking with prominent government officials.

On Sunday, audio recordings of what appeared to be their conversation appeared on social media, drawing attention to the prime minister, important members of his party, and his family.

The opposition expressed serious worries about the security of the Prime Minister’s Office in response to the audios (PMO). Several government ministers argued, however, that the audio showed no evidence of misconduct.

According to a formal announcement made on Monday, the NSC meeting will take place in the PM House on Wednesday.

The meeting will feature participation from senior military and civilian leaders, including the defence minister, interior minister, information minister, finance minister, and other significant cabinet members.

The flood situation, national security, and other issues will be covered at the huddle. In light of the audio leaks, the sources claim that significant decisions will be made at the NSC meeting.

During the conference, the participants will also receive a briefing on the nation’s law and order situation.

However, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb told The Express Tribune that Prime Minister Shehbaz would look into it and possibly request an inquiry after his return from London. As of Sunday night, the government has not ordered any investigation into the leaks.
