Foreign Minister calls for new lending terms with IMF

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded tougher loan conditions from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), claiming that the country’s recent floods had caused an apocalyptic-scale disaster.

According to Bilawal, the disaster has resulted in more than 1,500 deaths as well as simultaneous health and food security issues. He added that Pakistan needs almost $30 billion in aid to deal with the situation and applauded ongoing international efforts to offer assistance.

According to Bilawal, an agreement for economic stability was just struck with the IMF, however, all estimates and numbers from the accord were destroyed by the most recent flood. According to him, Pakistan has lost $30 billion as a result of the floods, and the IMF should negotiate new terms because the situation has changed.

“We don’t want aid from the world community; we want justice,” Bilawal remarked.

However, neighboring India has not offered support, according to Bilawal, who also called the BJP government “racist” and “Islamophobic.” In the wake of the disastrous floods that caused havoc in the nation, Bilawal claimed that Pakistan had not gotten any assistance from India.

In the New York interview with France 24, Bilawal was questioned about Pakistan’s request for assistance and any assistance that its neighbor has offered. Both questions received a negative response from him.

Regarding the issue of aid and assistance from abroad, FM Bilawal stated that while Pakistan was appreciative of the help, the nation did not “want to beg or wants aid – we want justice.” He continued that it required a worldwide response since it was a global calamity brought on by global activity.
