Prior to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, the International Cricket Council announced a number of changes to its playing rules, the most significant of which being a permanent prohibition on the use of saliva to polish the ball.
The ban has already been put in place by the ICC briefly as part of COVID-related protocols. But it’s currently outlawed permanently.
The amended third edition of the 2017 Code of the Laws of Cricket, which was suggested by the Men’s Cricket Committee under the leadership of former India captain Sourav Ganguly, contained improvements to the playing conditions.
The Women’s Cricket Committee, which endorsed the recommendations, was reportedly also given access to the findings and conclusions.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia next month, will be the first tournament to apply the new rules, which will go into effect on October 1, 2022.
