Today (Tuesday), Pakistan and England will play the first of seven Twenty20 matches at the National Stadium in Karachi. Today, the match will begin at 7 p.m. PST.
England is on its first tour of Pakistan in 17 years. This series is seen as a warm-up for the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia next month.
On their first trip to the country since 2005, the tourists will play four of the seven games in Karachi on September 20, 22, 23, and 25. The other three games will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on September 28, 30, and October 2.
In the short version of the game, England is ahead because they have won 14 of the 21 games they have played and lost only six. The guests got used to the weather in the city by practicing at the National Stadium for four days.
The green shirts will play England, and batsman Babar Azam will be in charge. He said that he hopes the series against England will help him get back to his best scoring form after a slow Asia Cup earlier this month.
In six games in the United Arab Emirates, where Pakistan came in second to Sri Lanka, the 27-year-old only scored 68 runs.
England is led by all-rounder Moeen Ali, who said that being captain of England against Pakistan, where his family is from, was a “huge and proud moment.”
Captain Jos Buttler traveled with the team, but he hurt his calf, so Ali took over as captain.
Birmingham-born Ali has led England in T20s before, but he said it was different to lead the team on this tour.
Ali told reporters, “My family is from here, so to lead England in such a big, historic series is a huge and proud moment.”
“My parents, my friends, my family, my community, and everyone I feel I speak for are happy for me,” he said.
