A father allegedly burned his son alive in Karachi’s Orangi Town by dousing him in kerosene oil after the unfortunate boy was unable to provide an “acceptable” response regarding his academic performance.
Shaheer, a 12-year-old boy, spent two days at a nearby hospital before passing away from his burn wounds.
Salim Khan, the SHO of the Iqbal Market Police Station, reported that Shaheer insisted on flying a kite on September 14 despite Nazir Khan, his father, objecting.
Nazir questioned his son about his education and homework throughout their conversation. Unfortunately, the 12-year-failure old’s to provide his father with an “acceptable” response is said to have “enraged” him.
Salim claimed that the father threw kerosene oil and thinner at his son in an effort to intimidate him. Shaheer was instantly engulfed in flames as Nazir ignited a matchstick and hurled it at him to frighten Shaheer even more.
According to the police officer, the child’s mother Shazia responded to his cries for help by rushing to save him. By covering his son with blankets and other clothing, Nazir made another attempt to save him.
Shaheer was sent right away to the Civil Hospital in Karachi. However, on September 16, the kid passed away from his injuries.
SHO Salim stated that the youngster was laid to rest the following day, but after seeing a video on social media and conducting an investigation, the police discovered that the incident took place within their police station’s jurisdiction.
He claimed that when the police arrived at Nazir’s home in Orangi Town, they were unable to locate him. The victim’s mother’s relative was later called by the police, and she informed them of the occurrence.
After Shazia filed a complaint against her husband, Nazir was later taken into custody. Nazir admitted to his crime in his initial statement, and the matter is still under investigation.
