To attend the annual summit of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which will be held on September 15–16 in Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left on a two-day trip there.
Prior to leaving, the prime minister tweeted that Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to the “Shanghai Spirit.” He continued, “Mutual respect and trust can be the bedrock of shared development and prosperity,”
The SCO has a significant potential to pave the way forward at a time when extremely troubling changes are occurring in the geopolitical and geoeconomic fields, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
“The global economic turbulence has necessitated the need for more cooperation among the SCO member countries. The SCO vision represents the aspirations of 40 percent of the world population,”, His another Tweet.
The premier will meet separately with Tajikistan’s president Imomali Rehmon and Uzbekistan’s president Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the first day of his two-day tour.
Other foreign leaders that PM Shehbaz Sharif will meet with include Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko, and Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov.
The prime minister will head to the Hazrat Khizr Complex shortly after touching down at the Samarkand Airport. There, he will pay his respects at Islam Karimov’s mausoleum in addition to visiting the Khizr Mosque.
