Ban on flour has echoes in the K-P Assembly

On Tuesday, a member of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly said that the ban on wheat flour from Punjab was against article 151 of the constitution and asked the government to talk to the Punjab government about the problem.

But Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra said that the “imported” federal government was threatening to stop the supply of flour but that this would make the country less stable.

He said that even though the government had tried hard, it had not been able to stabilize the economy.

Inayatullah, an MPA from the Jamat-e-Islami party, gave the notice to draw attention to the fact that the ban on transporting flour was against article 151 of the constitution.

He said that recent floods had already caused a lot of damage in K-P and that there wasn’t enough food because of that.

He asked the provincial government to talk to Punjab about the problem.

Jharga said that the PTI government had not given in to the problems that the province was having. He said that there had been no trouble getting supplies from Punjab since July.

He said that the federal government had failed to keep the economy stable.

During the assembly meeting, a lawmaker pointed out that there weren’t enough people there to have a quorum, so the meeting was put off until September 26.

It could be said that the lack of a quorum has been a constant problem for a long time. Large amounts of money are spent on holding assembly sessions, which are often cut short because not enough lawmakers are there.

On Tuesday, MPA Nighat Orakzai said that there were only 30 people at the meeting. The speakers told everyone to count themselves.
