Provincial government of Punjab has announced preparations to investigate violence that occurred on May 25

The PTI-led Punjab government has decided to open a judicial probe into allegations of political torture against party workers and residents during the May 25 long march on Islamabad.

Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar confirmed the news, saying that Chief Minister Parvez Elahi had been asked to request a judicial inquiry into the police torture in a letter to the home ministry.

He demanded that police authorities explain “under whose directives the action was taken against peaceful PTI protestors on Mach 25.”

All cops would be held accountable, he stressed, not just those whose wrongdoing is established through investigations.

Dogar remarked that the torture meted out to PTI workers at the event was “unprecedented in Pakistan’s history.”

This is the most recent action taken by the coalition government of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML)-Quaid (PTI) in Punjab against the officers and members of the previous PML-N-led administration responsible for the crackdown.

The PTI-led provincial administration has been on a collision path with the federal government ever since it took control of the political capital, and it has tightened the noose on individuals who had given the party trouble during the PML rule. N’s

The provincial government said last month that they would be cracking down on those responsible for the abuse of PTI workers at the May 25 event.

CM Pervaiz Elahi had issued an order to begin arresting those responsible for the violence and planned to fire any police personnel who were involved in the crackdown.

Cases filed against PTI members for their involvement in conflicts with law enforcement during the long march have been dropped by the Punjab administration.

Meanwhile, the IGP has made four officers on special duty out of Lahore’s previous total of 12 superintendents of police (OSDs).

The Inspector General for Police shuffled around 43 superintendents. In response to a complaint lodged by the PTI leadership, seven former OSDs who had previously victimized PTI leaders and employees were reinstated in their positions.
