As a result of his team’s lackluster performance in the Asia Cup 2022, the Pakistani skipper has dropped to the second position (794 points) in the standings, where he had held the top spot for more than a thousand days.
Rizwan is now leading the competition with 192 runs, while Babar has only managed 33 thus far.
The wicketkeeper-batsman was essential to Pakistan’s triumphs over Hong Kong and India, as he scored 78* and 71, respectively.
His performances helped Pakistan win both of those matches.
Rizwan is the third Pakistani batsman to ever hold the number one slot in the T20 International batting rankings.
Babar and Misbah-ul-Haq are the only other Pakistani batters to have ever done so. Within the context of Twenty20 Internationals, Babar has spent 1,155 of those at the top of the charts for his batting (as of 7 September).
Pathum Nissanka, who had an outstanding performance in the Asia Cup, moved up one slot to bat eighth in the order as a result of his performance.
Nissanka has scored 20, 35, and 52 runs over the course of his most recent three games, with his most recent performance assisting Sri Lanka in their victory over India in a Super Four match.
Because to his not out performance of 84 in the Super Four match against Sri Lanka, Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan moved up fourteen spots to No. 15 in the rankings.
As a result of his score of 72 against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team, has moved up four spots and is now in thirteenth place.
Both Sri Lankan and Afghan spinners have seen huge gains in their rankings as a direct result of their excellent performances. Mujeeb Ur Rahman batted 2/30, which allowed him to move up three places and tie for sixth place with Akeeal Hosein.
Maheesh Theekshana has been a standout performer in the Asia Cup throughout the course of the tournament’s most recent three matches, posting figures of 1/23, 1/29, and 1/29, respectively, and earning a substantial amount of praise as a result.
He now sits in eighth place, moving himself up five spots and into the top ten. Following his victories over Hong Kong (4/8) and India (2/31) Shadab Khan moves up 14 spots to take the 14th spot in the rankings.
