ECP failed to verify PTI’s foreign financing, says PTI

Islamabad: Leader Farrukh Habib of the PTI argued that the evidence against his party was weak after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) delivered a harsh decision.

Farrukh Habib said he was disappointed by the ruling since it disproved the prohibited foreign funding story. The foreign funding, he insisted, was not the issue; it was the prohibited funding.

The PTI leader raised issues about the ECP, saying that the IHC has ordered the accounts of all political parties to be probed without any discrimination, according to his statement.

He said that the committee entrusted with investigating PTI’s finances had finished its work ahead of schedule, but that the committees set up to examine PPP and PML’s finances had yet to submit their reports.

Fawad Chaudhry said that PTI finances were raised by Pakistanis living abroad, and that the ECP had agreed with this scenario.

The PTI leader said, “No party has the right to hide its money from the people.

Election authorities should disclose their judgement in PPP and PML-N funding case following PTI’s request, he said.

PML-N and JUI-F have viewed Pakistanis living abroad as their enemies, he said.

The PTI leader claimed that expatriate Pakistanis are the country’s backbone and that they will continue to rely on them for finance.

Fawad went on to say, “Today’s decision is not correct.”

“The people of Pakistan want to know why PPP and PML-N fundraising reports have not been made public?” Asked PTI Leader Asad Umar.

Asad Umar questioned the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), saying that it was defying the orders of the Supreme Court (SC) and the High Court (HC).

In an interview with Geo News, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed stated the choice made today would not result in a crisis that could not be handled.

The former interior minister referred to Pakistan’s Constitution as “a nose of wax.”

Rasheed said he was “ready to say this on oath” that political parties had gotten funds from a terrorist “Osama Bin Laden”.

He then asked Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja to step down on his own, which is something the PTI and its allies have been asking for months.
