On Sunday, police from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, along with a group of Rangers and rescue workers, went on a flag march through the two cities.
The police and other law enforcement agencies held a separate march to show the public how ready they were to keep the peace during Muharram. To keep the peace during Muharram, the police in Islamabad did a flag march in different parts of the city.
Malik Jameel Zafar, the SSP in charge of operations, and Irfan Nawaz, the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, were in charge of the flag march. During the flag march, SP Industrial Area and SP Rural were also there.
The march began at the Pakistan Sports Complex and ended at the same place. It went through Dhokri Chowk, Rawal Dam Chowk, Shehzad Town, Tramri Chow, Lehtrar Road, Khanna Bridge, Koral Chowk, PWD Housing Society, Kaak Bridge to Kahuta Road, Imam Bargah Haideri in Sihala, Imam Bargah Niazian Expressway, Sain Boota Shrine Faizabad.
Rangers, the government of Islamabad, and other law enforcement agencies were also there. All of the SPs have been told to keep in close touch with peace committees and the people who plan Majalis and processions. The SSP (operations) told all SDPOs and SHOs in each zone to make sure security is tight during Muharram.
He said that arrangements should be made to use metal detectors to check the people who take part in Majalis and processions. Police and peace committees should keep a close eye on things to make sure that security measures are in place.
He said that it would be made sure that processions follow the set routes and start and end at the right times. He also made sure that patrols were done well and that commando vehicles were used for the job.
The SSP (operations) has also asked the people of Islamabad to help the capital police do their jobs well. In the city of Rawalpindi, police, Rangers, and rescue workers did their own flag march to keep the peace during Muharram.
The flag march was made up of SSP operations, SP headquarters divisional SPs, SDPOs, SHOs, as well as district police, Elite Force, traffic police, and the Dolphin squad.
The flag march was meant to show that people were ready to keep the peace during the month of Muharram. The flag march began at Rawalpindi Police Lines, went through different parts of the city, and ended at the same place.
Under the security plan, about 10,000 police and other law enforcement officers will be sent to Rawalpindi to make sure that everyone is safe.
On Ashura, police officers and Rangers will be on duty, and the army will be on high alert. From the 7th to the 10th of Muharram, mobile service will be cut off in the most sensitive areas, according to the authorities.
Police officers’ time off had also been taken away. During Muharram, the Rawalpindi district government banned the entry of 65 religious leaders who are known for being very outspoken.
