12 Universities in Punjab booked for Rs6.61bn Corruption

Corruption worth Rs6.61bn has been revealed in 12 main government universities in Punjab. This has been revealed in the report submitted by the officials of the Investigation Team of Anti-Corruption Punjab.

As per the anti-corruption officials, the Vice-Chancellors of these universities have caused severe damage to the nation’s treasury as they illegally recruited 4,554 individuals in the past 10 years.

Putting an advertisement, University Act, Service Law, and Recruitment Policy were conveniently ignored while making these hiring in which 3,138 illegal recruitments were made from Grade 1 to Grade 16 while 1,416 individuals were illegally recruited for Grade 17 or above.

The Vice-Chancellors illegally recruited 4,554 individuals in the past 10 years

The report also mentioned that the DG Anti-Corruption Punjab had structured a four-member JIT for investigation. DG Anti-Corruption has also sent a letter to the Governor of Punjab for action.

The most illegal recruitments were made for Sargodha University with 1,009 individuals, 689 illegal recruits for Punjab University, 789 for Bahauddin Zakaria University, 209 for Government College University Faisalabad.

Other universities involved in this large scale corruption are Government College Women’s University Faisalabad, GC University Lahore, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, UET Lahore, Fatima Jinnah Women’s University, Khawaja Farid Engineering University Rahim Yar Khan, and Women’s University Multan.
