Regardless of the current political instability, ongoing economic crisis, coronavirus pandemic, and one’s personal problems, 65% of Pakistanis express that they are happy with their lives, a new study has disclosed.

The survey called “End of Year Survey 2020” was conducted by Gallup Pakistan, in partnership with International Association and Jang-Geo News Polls.
The survey was spread on the time span of October 9, 2020, to November 2, 2020, was joined by more than 1,000 respondents across the country.
The survey further highlights that about 25 % of Pakistanis said they are unhappy, 8% showed they are somewhere “in-between happy and unhappy,” and around 2% of the participants did not answer this question.
The Pakistani’s net happiness score was recorded to be 40% in 2020. The same score reached its peak with 71% in 2016 – during PML-N’s tenure and further reduced to 48% in 2017.
During the first year of the PTI government (2018), Pakistani’s net happiness score grew to 65% which again reduced in 2020.
In 2020, after comparing Pakistan’s net score for happiness with 46 other countries, Pakistan showed a global average of 54% in the survey. The global average for being unhappy was recorded at 14% and 31% for being somewhere “in-between happy and unhappy“.
The net happiness score of Pakistan’s neighboring countries; India and Afghanistan were recorded to be 64% and 48% simultaneously during the current year.
