UK approves British vaccine, jabs to start on January 4

The Covid vaccine developed by drug firm AstraZeneca and Oxford University have been approved for use in Britain, the government said on Wednesday, adding the mass rollout will start on January 4.

Prime Minister Borris Johnsons turned to social media and tweeted expressing pride on the success of British science as the University of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine received approval.

The vaccine can be stored, transported, and handled in a normal refrigerated, and is, therefore, is cheaper and easier to administer than the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna jabs that need freezing at certain degree.

In the middle of mounting concerns that another dangerous spike in infections threatens to overwhelm the NHS, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said, UK will become the first nation to roll out jabs on January 4.

Turning to the social media, Hancock tweeted, “Brilliant to end 2020 with such a moment of hope.”

Matt also thanked everyone involved in achieving the milestone.

Britain has already booked the 100 million doses to meet the clinical needs.

Hancock tweeted to inform the masses on Wednesday.

The Health Secretary also tweeted, “The #coronavirus vaccine is our way out of the pandemic–now we need to hold our nerve while we get through this together.”
