WASHINGTON: Kyiv’s troops have received intelligence about Russian generals’ locations in Ukraine from the US, according to a report quoting top American officials.
Russia’s mobile military headquarters move often throughout the combat zone, according to a story in the New York Times.
According to RT’s reporting, Kyiv used this US-provided information, together with its own intelligence, to conduct artillery strikes and other actions that resulted in the deaths of commanding commanders.
Russian generals were assassinated with American assistance, but US officials refused to say exactly how many.
As a precaution against hampering future intelligence collection, they did not identify the methods employed by Washington to get data on Russian command centres.
According to the New York Times, US intelligence services have used several sources, including classified and commercial satellites, to track Russian forces during the confrontation between Moscow and Kiev.
According to the sources, President Joe Biden’s administration helped Ukraine target the generals as part of a clandestine attempt to offer real-time combat intelligence.
NSC spokesperson Adrienne Watson has refuted the claim and insisted that American combat information was not given to Ukrainian forces “to assassinate Russian generals”.
John Kirby, the Pentagon’s spokesperson, admitted that the United States has provided Ukraine with “information and intelligence that they may use to defend themselves,” but he declined to divulge any specifics.
