World’s Wealthiest People: Forbes’ Billionaires 2022 list

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk topped the list for the first time, while China (including Macau and Hong Kong) stayed second, with 607 billionaires worth a combined $2.3 trillion (almost Rs424 trillion).

Forbes, a well-known American magazine, has released its annual list of the world’s wealthiest individuals for the 36th time. War, the COVID-19 epidemic, and stagnant markets all took their toll on the world’s billionaires this year, as it left 87 persons off the list compared to the previous year.

There are now 2,668 billionaires on the Forbes list, including 236 newcomers, and 1,000 billionaires are now richer than they were a year ago, according to the publication.

The United States still has the most billionaires in the world, with 735 worth $4.7 trillion (almost Rs867 trillion).

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk topped the list for the first time, while China (including Macau and Hong Kong) stayed second, with 607 billionaires worth a combined $2.3 trillion (almost Rs424 trillion).

Russia and China saw a significant decline in the number of billionaires. Following Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, there are 34 fewer Russian billionaires than last year, while China’s government assault on innovation enterprises has resulted in 87 fewer billionaires.

Business tycoon Gautam Adani and his family ranked 11th on Forbes’ annual list of billionaires, just ahead of India’s Mukesh Ambani, chair of Reliance Industries, which owns Reliance Industries.

For the net worth calculations, the magazine utilised stock prices and currency rates as of March 11, 2022.
