Pakistan Again Sees Rise in COVID-19 Deaths

The country’s daily mortality count stayed below 40 for the previous five days.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s daily COVID-19 death toll experienced a spike again after many days of drop as 43 persons died to the virus in a single day, the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) statistics revealed Wednesday morning.

The country’s daily mortality count stayed below 40 for the previous five days.

As per today’s figures, the latest additions set the country’s total number of coronavirus deaths documented at 30,096.

The NCOC claimed it completed 41,744 diagnostic tests in the previous 24 hours, of which 1,232 came back positive. With this, Pakistan’s coronavirus positive ratio jumped to 2.95 percent and the overall case count to 1,503,873.

Meanwhile, 3,154 persons infected with coronavirus recuperated overnight, pushing the number of active cases down to 64,262.

NCOC relaxes COVID-19 limitations in three cities

The NCOC on Tuesday reduced some of the general limits implemented across the country, irrespective of the city-wise coronavirus positive rates, after noticing a declining trend of coronavirus countrywide.

Moreover, the conference also resolved to remove Karachi, Hyderabad and Peshawar from the list of cities/districts where it earlier had opted to keep limitations in place.

The forum, last week, had produced a list of six cities/districts where the COVID-19 positive was over 10 percent , suggesting that the previously applied limits will stay in effect there.

The cities/districts still holding COVID-19 positivity of more than 10 percent include Gilgit, Muzaffarabad and Mardan.
