Pakistani Passport Ranked Fourth-Worst Globally

Visa-free or visa-on-arrival access is available to Pakistani citizens in only 31 countries across the world.

ISLAMABAD: This year’s Henley Passport Index 2022 ranks Pakistan’s passport as the fourth worst for international travel, with visa-free or visa on arrival access to 31 countries across the globe.

Henley Passport Index ranked Pakistan at 108th place in terms of the number of countries to which its holders can travel without a preceding visa. It has been a tradition since 2006 that the business Henley & Partners keeps tabs on the world’s best passport for travelling, releasing an annual “Henley Passport Index.”

The Covid-19 epidemic, which has resulted in a widening worldwide mobility gap, according to the research, has imposed a rising number of travel restrictions.

The score does not consider temporary limitations, so bearers of the passports at the top of its ranking—Japan and Singapore—can theoretically travel visa-free to 192 places.

In comparison, Afghan passport holders, who rank last out of 199 passports and may visit just 26 countries without a visa, have 166 fewer options.

We are entering the first quarter of 2022 with the same top 10 rankings as before. Germany, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, and Spain are all tied for third place (with a score of 189). Whereas, it tied South Korea with Germany in second place (with a combined score of 190).

France, the Netherlands, and Sweden have all improved one position to join Austria and Denmark in fourth place on the list of the world’s best passports (with a score of 188). Fifth place goes to Ireland and Portugal, respectively (with a score of 187). European Passports have always enjoyed a dominant position. US and UK, which shared the top rank in 2014, have reclaimed some of their lost passport prestige.
