ISLAMABAD: West Indies’ Cricket Board (CWI) officials are holding a crucial meeting with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) high ups today to discuss whether to call off the remaining matches of the ongoing tour after five more members of the touring party, including three players, tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement issued today just before the be beginning of the third Twenty20 International in Karachi, the WIC said the boards of the two countries are meeting to “determine whether the tour can continue”.
West Indies are also scheduled to play three one-day international matches in Pakistan.
Wicketkeeper Shai Hope, spinner Akeal Hosein and all-rounder Justin Greaves, along with assistant coach Roddy Estwick and physician Akshai Mansingh, were found to be positive after Wednesday’s tests.
At this time, the officials are conducting rapid Covid tests of the West Indies cricketers and today’s match schedule depends on the outcome of the tests of cricketers of guest team.
