Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was declared a proclaimed offender by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday.
The orders were issued by the two-member bench comprising, Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, hearing the appeals filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif against his sentence in the Al Azizia and Avenfield reference.
During the hearing, Foreign Ministry’s Director Europe Mubashir Khan, recorded his statement before the court. He stated that he had received the court’s advertisements regarding Nawaz Sharif and sent it to the Pakistani High Commission in London.
On the other hand, FIA’s Aijaz Ahmed, in his statement to the court, said that he had led a team of FIA Punjab to deliver the advertisements to Nawaz Sharif’s residence. He added that he delivered the advertisements at the Jati Umra and Model Town residence of the PML-N supremo in Lahore.
Ahmed told the court that he had visited Model Town residence first where he met the security team. He added that he informed the security team of the advertisements and also shouted Nawaz Sharif’s name.
“The same was done at the Jati Umra residence,” Ahmed told the court. He added that the FIA team has also submitted the pictures of its actions for the record.
