NAUDERO: Two people, including a prayer leader and a woman, were killed in an honour killing in the Katcha area near Naudero, Larkana, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Keti Mumtaz Police Station, where authorities were alerted shortly after the killings. Police officials reached the scene and shifted the bodies of Hafeez Khoro and Saira Agani to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination.
According to investigators, the woman had attempted to seek police help moments before her death. She contacted the Madadgar 15, requesting immediate assistance to save her life. However, responders were unable to reach the location in time to prevent the killing.
Furthermore, initial statements recorded by police suggest that the crime may have been carried out by individuals known to the victim. Saira Aganiโs father, Ahmad Bux Agani, told authorities that her cousin, along with accomplices, was responsible for the attack.
Police have launched an investigation and are working to apprehend the suspects. Officials added that efforts are underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Honour killings, locally referred to as โKaro Kari,โ remain a persistent issue in parts of rural Sindh, despite legal measures aimed at curbing such crimes.
