UK Shoots Down Drones Over Jordan and Bahrain as Iran War Spreads
UK Royal Air Force Typhoon jets shot down two drones overnight, one defending Jordan and another protecting Bahrain.
Furthermore, the British Ministry of Defence announced the action on X and said the UK has started defensive flights to support the United Arab Emirates.
War Escalates Across the Region
Iran fired fresh missile waves toward Israeli cities early Friday. Israel said its defences intercepted most of them, but two people were injured in the north.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia shot down dozens of drones entering its airspace. In Oman two expatriates died when debris from an intercepted drone hit an industrial area. Sirens sounded at Turkeyโs Incirlik NATO base after a ballistic missile from Iran was downed in Turkish airspaceโthe third such incident in a week.
Additionally, a French soldier was killed in an attack in Iraqโs Kurdistan region. President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the death, the first French military loss in this war.
Moreover, oil stayed above $100 a barrel after Mojtaba Khamenei, Iranโs new supreme leader, called for closing the Strait of Hormuz and opening new fronts against US and Israeli bases. He said the waterway must stay blocked and warned attacks will continue until bases close.
