Pezeshkian rejects missile strike claims while emphasizing need to prevent escalation
Tehran, Mehr: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed regional developments and bilateral relations during a telephone conversation late Monday.
According to Iranian media reports, the leaders focused on the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, as well as allegations that Iran launched missiles toward Turkish territory during the war.
During the call, Pezeshkian said Tehran was ready to clarify any misunderstandings regarding reports that Iran targeted Turkey. He stressed that the claims circulating in some media outlets were inaccurate and intended to create tensions between neighboring countries.
Furthermore, the Iranian president accused the United States and Israel of attempting to sow discord between Iran and regional states. He said media platforms linked to Washington and Tel Aviv had promoted allegations suggesting Iran attacked its โfriendly and brotherlyโ neighbor.
Pezeshkian also reiterated that Iran remained committed to reducing tensions in the region. However, he emphasized that Tehran expected neighboring countries to ensure their airspace and territory were not used for attacks against Iranian citizens.
