The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) has approved the establishment of a new campus in Islamabad. The Board of Governors confirmed the plan during a meeting on Thursday. The land acquisition in DHA Islamabad is almost complete, officials said.
This expansion aims to provide students and professionals in northern Pakistan better access to IBAโs academic programs. It also allows the institution to strengthen its presence in the federal capital.
Legal Amendments to Facilitate Islamabad Campus
IBA will not need a new federal law to operate the campus. Instead, the IBA Act 1994 will be amended to permit operations in Islamabad. Abbas Baloch, Secretary Boards and Universities, told the board that the amendments would be finalized soon.
These changes will integrate the new campus under IBAโs existing legal framework. Therefore, the institution can start offering programs without waiting for lengthy legislative approval.
Faculty Housing and Infrastructure Plans
The Board of Governors also approved the construction of 32 residential flats for faculty and staff. The housing project will ensure employees have nearby accommodation. It will also support recruitment and retention of qualified faculty.
Officials highlighted that having on-campus housing will make it easier for staff to manage their work and personal commitments. The residential flats are part of a larger plan to build modern facilities at the Islamabad campus.
Academic Programs and Strategic Goals
The Islamabad campus will focus on executive education, postgraduate, and professional programs. IBA has already offered Executive MBA and executive education courses in Islamabad. However, the new campus will allow more students and professionals to enroll in these programs.
Officials said the campus will bring IBAโs high-quality business education closer to corporate leaders and professionals in the northern region. Moreover, it will expand opportunities for networking and industry collaboration.
IBA Karachi was founded in 1955 and remained part of the University of Karachi until 1994. Over the years, it has earned a reputation as one of Pakistanโs top business schools.
With the Islamabad campus, IBA seeks to reach new student populations and strengthen its national footprint. The institution also aims to meet the growing demand for executive education and professional development programs.
Overall, the new campus reflects IBAโs commitment to strategic growth, innovation, and supporting Pakistanโs business and professional community. By offering accessible programs and faculty housing, IBA hopes to enhance both learning and working conditions.
