ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces have destroyed the 205 Corps Brigade Headquarters of the Afghan Taliban in Kandahar during the ongoing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, according to security sources. The operation marks a significant escalation in Pakistanโs efforts to counter militant threats along its western border.

The operation targets Taliban’s military infrastructure
Security officials said the destruction of the 205 Corps Brigade Headquarters in Kandahar delivered a major blow to the Afghan Talibanโs operational network. In addition to the headquarters, Pakistani forces reportedly hit several ammunition storage facilities used by Taliban fighters.
Officials noted that the operation seeks to disrupt militant logistics, limit the movement of armed groups, and reduce their ability to launch attacks inside Pakistan. Consequently, the military continues to monitor developments along the border and remains prepared for further operations if necessary.
Meanwhile, the ongoing campaign reflects Pakistanโs broader strategy to eliminate insurgent and extremist threats in the region. Security sources emphasized that the operation aims to ensure long-term stability along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The militaryโs media wing stated that the army chief also assessed ongoing counterterrorism operations and troop readiness in the region. He emphasized that peace between the two countries could only prevail if the Afghan Taliban regime renounced support for terrorist groups and organisations.
