Iran’s retaliatory strikes _ Missiles hit Israeli cities
Iran has claimed that its retaliatory strikes have killed around 200 US soldiers. Iran launched retaliatory strikes on Saturday after US-Israel attacks, wherein Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the army chief, the defence minister and many other top leaders were killed on Saturday.
Iran continued its retaliatory campaign, dubbed โFateh Khyber,โ on Sunday, launching dozens of missiles and drones at Israeli cities and US military bases across the Middle East. Iranian officials said the operation responded to recent strikes by Israel and the United States.
Arab media reported that Iranian missiles struck several Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa. Israeli authorities, however, said their air defense systems intercepted and destroyed multiple incoming projectiles. Despite those claims, debris from intercepted missiles fell in southern Haifa, causing alarm among residents.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), also known as Pasdaran-i-Inqilab, stated that it targeted Israeli military and security installations. It vowed to continue the counter-attacks, warning that further action would follow. Meanwhile, Israeli officials signaled readiness to intensify operations against Iran if attacks persist.
US Denies Casualties as Regional Bases Targeted
The IRGC also claimed it struck 14 US military bases in the region and killed 200 American soldiers. In response, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) firmly rejected the assertion, calling it false. CENTCOM further denied Iranian claims that missiles damaged a US naval vessel.
Iranian forces reportedly fired missiles at American bases in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. Explosions echoed near the Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, while smoke rose from the vicinity of Al-Jafeer in Bahrain. However, Qatari and Emirati officials said their air defenses intercepted several missiles before impact. Authorities in Abu Dhabi also confirmed that they destroyed multiple ballistic missiles mid-air.
The US-Israeli attacks on Iran and subsequent retaliations have escalated war tensions in the region.
