PISA — Luka Modrić delivered a masterclass performance to lead AC Milan to a crucial 2-1 victory over Pisa, earning MVP honours with 45.3% of fan votes on the club’s official app.
The 40-year-old Croatian midfielder scored the decisive goal in the 85th minute, calmly lifting the ball over the goalkeeper with a delicate chip after a clever one-two with Samuele Ricci. The strike proved the difference in a match that saw Milan close the gap on Serie A leaders Inter to five points.
Modrić’s influence extended far beyond the goal. He completed 93 accurate passes, contributed defensively with a tackle and an interception, and consistently troubled the Pisa backline with his vision and ball control. His experience anchored the Rossoneri during tense moments, particularly after Adrien Rabiot’s late sending-off.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who opened the scoring with a first-half header, finished second in fan voting with 32.1%, while provider Zachary Athekame took 22.6%.
The victory extends Milan’s unbeaten league run to 23 games. Modrić’s winner makes him the third-oldest scorer in Serie A history—another milestone in a career defined by timeless brilliance.
