Airstrikes target key cities and defensive positions
ISLAMABAD โ Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said security forces killed 297 Afghan Taliban fighters, destroyed 89 posts and captured 18 others during Operation Ghazab lil-Haq. Pakistan launched the operation after what Tarar described as โunprovoked actionโ from across the border.
In a post on X, Tarar detailed the losses inflicted during the operation, adding that more than 450 Afghan operatives sustained injuries. He also said forces destroyed around 135 tanks and armored vehicles.
Moreover, Tarar stated that Pakistan targeted approximately 29 locations across Afghanistan through air operations. The Pakistan Air Force conducted precision strikes against Taliban defensive positions in Kandahar, Kabul and Paktia, he added.
Government vows firm response to cross-border attacks
Speaking to a media outlet, Tarar said Pakistan responded with vigilance and strength to aggression by the Afghan Taliban. He emphasized that the armed forces used their professional capabilities effectively to defend the country under challenging conditions.
Furthermore, he said the robust response pushed the Taliban onto the defensive and triggered what he called a disinformation campaign on social media. โPakistanโs armed forces have once again demonstrated that any aggression or hostile designs against the country will be met with an iron hand,โ Tarar asserted.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the armed forces for their timely action, Tarar said. He added that the prime minister commended the leadership of Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for safeguarding national security and sovereignty.
Reiterating Pakistanโs stance, Tarar declared that the use of Afghan territory for attacks against Pakistan remains unacceptable and will prompt decisive retaliation.
