Cristiano Ronaldo acquired a 25 percent stake in Spanish second-division side Almeria. It marked a significant step in his expanding football business portfolio. Ronaldo’s company, CR7 Sports Investments, confirmed the strategic move without divulging financial details.
In a statement, the company said the investment reflects Ronaldoโs long-term commitment to professional football ownership. Moreover, Ronaldo described the deal as the fulfillment of a long-standing ambition to contribute to the sport beyond his playing career.
Strategic Investment Signals Long-Term Vision
Ronaldo emphasized that Almeria offers strong foundations and clear growth potential. Currently, the club sits third in Spainโs second division and trails the automatic promotion places by just one point. Notably, Almeria last competed in La Liga in 2024.
Saudi group SMC owns the club, strengthening ties between Spanish and Saudi football interests. Meanwhile, Ronaldo continues to play for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, where he has featured since 2023. He also holds a stake in the Saudi club, further underlining his expanding influence in football management.
Focus on Youth Development and Growth
Almeria president Mohamed Al Khereiji welcomed Ronaldoโs involvement and highlighted his expected role in developing the clubโs youth program. He praised Ronaldoโs deep understanding of Spanish football and expressed confidence in the clubโs project.
Recently, Ronaldo returned to Al-Nassrโs first team after resolving differences over the winter transfer window. He has scored four goals in his last three matches. Additionally, he became the first footballer included in Bloombergโs Billionaire Index last October and now prepares for what could be his sixth and final World Cup next summer at age 41.
