ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security sources said key Afghan Taliban infrastructure was destroyed during the latest phase of operations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. According to officials, 12 Afghan border posts were destroyed, while Pakistani forces seized control of five others and raised the national flag.
Sources added that strikes targeted multiple provinces across Afghanistan. In Nangarhar, a major ammunition depot was destroyed. Meanwhile, in Kandahar, Pakistani forces reportedly hit another ammunition depot and a logistics base, weakening Taliban operational capacity. Officials also confirmed that a core Taliban headquarters in Paktia province was destroyed.
Security sources said three Afghan battalions and a sector headquarters were eliminated during the latest phase. Additionally, more than 30 tanks, artillery guns and armoured personnel carriers were destroyed. Pakistani forces also destroyed the Dawood post and struck Taliban positions near the Kharlachi terminal in Kurram district.
In other sectors, Afghan posts near Mohmand were reportedly abandoned as fighters retreated under pressure. Several forward positions were destroyed or deserted, while officials claimed key installations in Kabul, including two brigade headquarters, were also hit.
Government accuses Taliban of propaganda amid clashes
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the Afghan Taliban initiated hostilities and then spread what he called false propaganda online. He claimed Afghan-linked and Indian social media accounts were circulating misleading narratives to mask battlefield setbacks.
Tarar said Pakistanโs armed forces responded with professionalism and resolve. He reported that 36 Afghan Taliban operatives were killed and several were wounded in recent exchanges. On the Pakistani side, two soldiers were martyred and three were injured.
He added that Pakistan targeted militants described as โFitna al-Khawarijโ and said cross-border firing from Afghanistan exposed the Taliban internationally. Kabul did not immediately respond to the claims.
