At least 30 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed in clashes with Pakistani security forces on Thursday night at the border. According to security officials, Pakistani forces launched counter-operations after what officials described as unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Security sources said at least 30 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed during the latest exchange.
According to officials, Afghan fighters attempted to target Pakistani checkposts using quadcopters. However, troops shot down all incoming drones through swift defensive action. Meanwhile, Pakistani forces engaged hostile positions with small and heavy weaponry and carried out selective aerial drone strikes against Afghan posts, killing many enemy fighters.
Operations expand across multiple border sectors
Security sources said Pakistani troops conducted precise operations across several sectors, including Chitral, Bajaur, Khyber, Mohmand, and Kurram. In the Chitral sector, an ุงูุบุงู Taliban checkpost was reportedly destroyed, forcing militants to abandon positions. Meanwhile, in Bajaurโs Naugai area and Tirah in Khyber, forces destroyed at least two posts during retaliatory strikes.
Pakistanโs Ministry of Information and Broadcasting stated that Afghan firing across multiple locations triggered an immediate and effective response. Early reports indicated heavy casualties on the Afghan side, along with the destruction of posts and military equipment.
In Kurram, Frontier Corps personnel were seen engaging hostile elements during ongoing operations. Footage from Bajaur reportedly showed sustained artillery strikes targeting enemy defensive lines. Security officials also claimed three militant posts were destroyed, killing at least eight fighters and injuring five others. Tanks were deployed in some areas, with operations continuing along the affected border regions.
