ISLAMABAD:ย The federal government has decided to fully digitalize Hajj operations for 2026, aiming to streamline processes and improve transparency, according to ARY News. The move marks a significant shift toward modernizing pilgrimage management through technology-driven solutions.
To formalize the initiative, the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Information Technology on Tuesday. Officials said the agreement would enable seamless coordination and accelerate the transition to a digital system.
Ministers highlight transparency and efficiency goals
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf said authorities aim to make the Hajj process more transparent and accessible. He emphasized that digitalization would reduce unnecessary delays and minimize human errors. Moreover, he noted that adopting modern systems would help Pakistan align its operations with international standards.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for IT Shiza Fatima said the government plans to introduce a comprehensive end-to-end digital ecosystem. She explained that officials will develop a simple and user-friendly online portal to facilitate applications and tracking.
Online portal to ensure coordination and deadlines
Furthermore, the Ministry of Religious Affairs said the upcoming portal would strengthen communication among all stakeholders, including pilgrims, officials, and service providers. Authorities expect the centralized platform to improve coordination and eliminate manual bottlenecks.
Officials added that the digital system would also help ensure strict compliance with timelines set by Saudi Arabia. By integrating services into a single platform, the government hopes to provide a smoother and more reliable experience for pilgrims planning the 2026 Hajj.
