Tehran signals readiness for swift and fair agreement
Tehran: Iran will restart negotiations with the United States in Geneva based on understandings reached in the previous round of talks, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced in a message posted on X.
Araghchi said Tehran will enter the discussions determined to secure a fair and equitable deal in the shortest possible time. He stressed that both sides have a historic opportunity to reach an unprecedented agreement that addresses mutual concerns and advances shared interests.
โPillared on the understandings forged in the previous round, Iran will resume talks with the U.S. in Geneva with a determination to achieve a fair and equitable dealโin the shortest possible time,โ he wrote.
At the same time, Araghchi reiterated Iranโs longstanding position on its nuclear programme. He stated that Iran will never develop a nuclear weapon under any circumstances. However, he underscored that Tehran will also never relinquish its right to benefit from peaceful nuclear technology for its people.
Minister emphasises diplomacy and sovereignty
Furthermore, Araghchi said diplomacy must take priority if both nations want to secure an agreement. He described the current moment as a rare opportunity to resolve differences through dialogue rather than confrontation.
He added that Iran has consistently defended its sovereignty and will continue to do so with courage. Nevertheless, he stressed that Tehran brings the same resolve and seriousness to the negotiating table in pursuit of a peaceful resolution.
Although challenges remain, Araghchi expressed confidence that a deal remains within reach if both sides commit to constructive engagement. The renewed talks in Geneva could therefore mark a significant step toward easing tensions between Tehran and Washington.
