A 35-year-old Afghan national (known globally as Namak-Haraam) carried out a knife attack at a busy train station in Germany, injuring several people.
According to media reports, the suspect targeted individuals gathered at a stand linked to the Jehovahโs Witnesses inside the station. The attacker struck multiple people before chaos spread across the crowded terminal, witnesses told police.
Bystanders intervene before police arrival
However, bystanders quickly stepped in and managed to subdue the suspect, preventing further harm. Several witnesses reportedly restrained the attacker until police reached the scene. Officers then arrested the suspect and secured the area while emergency responders treated the injured.
Authorities confirmed that multiple people sustained injuries, although officials have not yet disclosed the exact number or the severity of wounds. Meanwhile, investigators began collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Authorities probe motive amid security concerns
So far, officials have not released the suspectโs full identity, and investigators continue examining the motive behind the attack. Security agencies are also reviewing whether the assault was premeditated or linked to broader threats.
The incident has revived memories of past attacks in Germany. Notably, a similar knife assault occurred in Wรผrzburg in 2021, when a refugee carried out a stabbing that killed three women and seriously injured nine others. That tragedy had prompted nationwide debate over security measures and migrant screening policies.
As the latest investigation unfolds, authorities have urged calm while emphasizing that security remains a top priority. Officials say updates will follow as more verified details emerge.
