The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts mostly dry and cold weather across the country in the coming days. Meteorologists report that continental air currently dominates many regions, bringing chilly mornings and cooler nights that will affect daily routines and outdoor activities.
Weather Outlook for Northern and Western Regions
Islamabad will experience cold and dry conditions, especially during early morning and nighttime hours. Similarly, Murree and the surrounding Galiyat region will face persistent cold, prompting residents to prepare for frosty mornings. Cold and dry weather will also continue in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, where temperatures have remained low. In Balochistan, most areas will experience similar cold conditions, with no significant rainfall expected, allowing people to plan agricultural and travel activities accordingly.
Lahore Confronts Air Pollution Crisis Amid Warmer Days
Meanwhile, Lahoreโs air quality has sharply deteriorated, with Tuesday ranking the city as the worldโs second most polluted. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 225, placing conditions in the โvery unhealthyโ range. Thokar Niaz Baig recorded the worst readings, where AQI levels soared to 568. Despite this persistent smog, Lahore has experienced a slight warming trend, with maximum temperatures expected to reach around 28ยฐC, making daytime hours more comfortable than in recent days.
Authorities have urged residents, particularly children, older adults, and individuals with respiratory illnesses, to limit outdoor activities until pollution levels improve. Experts recommend that people wear masks and use air purifiers indoors to reduce exposure. As the cold and dry spell continues, citizens should layer clothing during morning and night hours while taking necessary precautions against air pollution.
The upcoming weather conditions highlight the dual challenges of winter cold and rising urban pollution, reminding communities to stay prepared while adjusting daily routines for health and safety.
