JERUSALEM โ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Monday that Israel would respond with โunimaginableโ force if Iranโs Islamic regime launches an attack, as tensions between the two countries intensify.
Speaking during a 40-signature debate at the Knesset, Netanyahu said Israel faces โvery complex and challenging daysโ but remains fully prepared for any scenario. โIf the Ayatollah regime makes perhaps the gravest mistake in its history and attacks Israel, we will respond with a force they cannot imagine,โ he declared.
Netanyahu emphasized Israelโs military readiness and highlighted close coordination with the United States. Following his recent meeting with President Donald Trump, he said the alliance between the two nations has never been stronger, particularly in security and intelligence cooperation.
โRegarding the protection of millions of Israeli citizens, Israel has never been stronger,โ he told lawmakers. He urged national unity ahead of the Jewish holiday of Purim, calling on citizens to stand shoulder to shoulder during a critical period.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid sharply criticized Netanyahuโs leadership, focusing on the governmentโs handling of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks. Lapid accused the prime minister of attempting to reshape the narrative by seeking changes to legislation commemorating the attacks.
Despite political divisions, Lapid signaled unity if conflict with Iran escalates. โIf this campaign comes, we will all put everything else aside,โ he said, pledging to support international advocacy efforts.
Lapid added that he would publicly back decisive action against Iran, even while remaining Netanyahuโs political rival.
