ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistanโs Pishin district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.
According to the militaryโs media wing, troops engaged the entire militant group with multiple weapons during a fierce exchange of fire. As a result, one suicide bomber detonated himself, while security personnel tracked down and eliminated four other India-sponsored militants.
Furthermore, forces recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the slain terrorists, who had actively carried out several attacks in the area. Subsequently, authorities launched sanitisation operations to clear the vicinity and eliminate any remaining threats.
The ISPR reaffirmed that security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their relentless counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam. It added that the operation aims to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have witnessed a surge in militant violence since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in 2021. Earlier this month, India-backed Fitna al-Hindustan โ Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) launched coordinated attacks across several districts of Balochistan.
Those assaults killed 36 civilians, including women, and martyred 22 security personnel, according to the ISPR. In response, security forces initiated Operation Raddul Fitna 1 and eliminated at least 216 terrorists through coordinated engagements and clearance operations.
On January 31, militants targeted civilians in Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. Consequently, several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, Iran, the UAE, France, Canada, the European Union, the OIC, and the UNSC, condemned the attacks.
