Minister Confirms Transfer from Adiala Jail for Scheduled Treatment
ISLAMABAD โ Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Tareq Fazal Chaudhry confirmed on Friday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will be shifted from Adiala Jail to a hospital on February 25 for a scheduled eye injection.
Speaking in a video shared by journalist Zahid Farooq Malik, the minister clarified that authorities will transfer the former prime minister strictly for medical treatment. โThe injection can only be administered at a hospital with tertiary-care facilities, so he will be shifted solely for that purpose,โ Chaudhry said.
He added that Khan received his first injection on January 25, while doctors scheduled the second dose for February 25. A third and final injection will follow one month later. According to Chaudhry, the procedure will take place at a top-tier hospital in Islamabad or Rawalpindi.
Medical Board Reports Improvement in Vision
Khan, currently incarcerated at Adiala Jail, earlier complained of deteriorating vision in his right eye. Subsequently, the Supreme Court appointed Barrister Salman Safdar as amicus curiae to review the matter.
After visiting the jail, Safdar reported that only 15 percent vision remained in Khanโs right eye. In response, a medical board examined him on February 15 under court directives.
Doctors from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences later briefed PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas on Khanโs condition. The boardโs findings indicated significant improvement in his eyesight following treatment.
Meanwhile, PTI and allied opposition parties called off their sit-in protest, which they had launched to press for Khanโs hospital transfer and medical care.
